About Immerse Africa
Building the default career pathway for African venture capital professionals
Our Founder's Story
Immerse Africa VC Academy was founded in 2023 by Fisayo Durojaye, an investment professional with deep experience across African venture capital and private equity.
Fisayo's journey began in investment banking at Afrinvest West Africa, where he spent four years building financial models and advising on M&A transactions. In 2017, he joined EchoVC Partners, one of Africa's leading early-stage VC funds, where he spent nearly five years leading investments in high-growth tech and tech-enabled businesses across the continent.
During his time at EchoVC, Fisayo served on the boards of companies like Printivo, LifeBank, and NextCounsel, and made investments in companies like Shuttlers and OnePort 365 (which he successfully exited). He also co-founded Ancestors Advisory in 2019, providing startup advisory services including financial modeling, valuation, and capital raising.
By 2023, Fisayo had observed a critical gap: Africa's VC ecosystem was growing faster than the talent pipeline to support it. While billions in capital were flowing into African tech, there was no comprehensive, practical training program specifically designed for aspiring and current VCs on the continent — especially one built by practitioners who had actually deployed capital.
So he launched Immerse Africa VC Academy — not just as a course, but as an operating system for African VC professionals. A place where aspiring investors could learn from active practitioners, build real skills through hands-on projects, and connect with a community that would support their careers for life.
Since 2023, Immerse has trained over 100 professionals across 4+ cohorts, many of whom now work at leading African VC/PE funds. Today, Fisayo serves as an Investment Professional at Enza Capital, leading investments in Nigeria and West Africa, while continuing to build Immerse Africa VC Academy as the default career pathway for African venture capital.
